Yokohama debuts drive tire

March 21, 2012

LOUISVILLE, KY. Yokohama Tire Corp. has unveiled a new drive tire, which is part of its Zenvironment technology line of fuel-efficient tires.

The 709ZL made its debut today at the Mid-America Trucking Show here. Available in sizes 295/75R22.5 and 11R22.5, the new tire combines Yokohama’s technological breakthroughs in casing design, rubber compounding and tread design, the company said.

“By pairing our advanced compound with a tread design that’s different from any other tire,” said Rick Phillips, director of commercial sales. “Our engineers have successfully created a drive tire that is remarkably fuel efficient.”
The 709ZL includes low-rolling resistance for improved fuel economy, a solid shoulder rib and serpentine grooves for extra rigidity and stability, and Z-block design for improved wet traction.

The 709ZL will be available in the latter part of 2012, Yokohama said.
