The national average price for a gallon of diesel shot up 10 cents over the previous record high, set last week, to $2.012 per gallon, the Energy Information Administration said today.
Oil analyst Trilby Lundberg cited disruptions in the petroleum facilities along the Gulf Coast due to the recent string of hurricanes.
The Central Atlantic region posted the steepest increase, up 11.9 cents to $2.092. All regions posted an increase but the most moderate hike was recorded in the West Coast, up 8.1 cents to $2.169. The Gulf Coast is the cheapest region to fill up, at $1.971. California once again posted the steepest prices, at $2.236.
