DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, part of the logistics division of Plantation, FL-based DHL, is moving and consolidating its three Los Angeles-area operations into a single facility outside Redondo Beach, CA. The move will better meet customer needs during the peak shipping seasons as well as the long-term growth of trans-Pacific cargo volumes, the package delivery company said.

DHL’s new 200,000-sq.-ft. Redondo Beach facility is near the Port of Long Beach and Los Angeles International Airport and houses DHL Danzas Air & Ocean's Los Angeles gateway operations; air, ocean and U.S. domestic services; customs brokerage, warehousing and customer program management (CPM) activities.

It includes a 143,000 sq. ft. warehouse and 51,000 sq. ft. of office space, as well as a 12,000 sq ft dedicated security cage. This offers an extra 20,000 sq. ft. of capacity than its three previous sites combined, the company said.

Through this facility DHL has doubled its capacity of air import break bulk operations to handle larger volumes of inbound shipments. This will serve businesses needing expedited deliveries during peak season, said Brian E. Lindholm, executive vp & COO-North America for DHL Danzas Air & Ocean. He noted that DHL Danzas Air & Ocean projects annualized double-digit increases in Trans-Pacific ocean imports to the Port of Long Beach, with traffic from China and India to expand by 20% to 30% per year.
