The national average price for a gallon of diesel is back on the rise, up 3.8 cents to $2.581 for the week ending March 19, according to the Energy Information Administration

The national average price for a gallon of diesel is back on the rise, up 3.8 cents to $2.581 for the week ending March 19, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). Despite the overall increase, regions that had been experiencing the highest prices actually saw a drop in prices.

The West Coast and California posted a decline in prices, both down 0.9 cents to $2.716 and $2.738, respectively. Despite this, California remained the most expensive region in which to fill up.

The Gulf Coast region saw the largest price spike, up 5.5 cents to $2.552. The cheapest region in which to fill up was the Midwest at $2.533, despite a 4.2-cent hike.
