    LOUISVILLE, KY. Dometic Environmental Corp., a business unit of Dometic Corp., is showcasing a new auxiliary air conditioning system here at the Mid-America Trucking Show here. The new battery-powered system, developed specifically for the day cab market, operates from the truck's batteries. According to the company, it uses common trucking-industry components, installs in just four to six hours and requires virtually no regular maintenance.

    The system consists of an air conditioning system; a DC-AC inverter; an upsized, high-capacity alternator; thermostat control; and optional shore power plug. Two air conditioners are offered: a 7,000 BTU self-contained unit and a 10,000 BTU split system. The price is under $2,000 for single-unit purchases notes Dometic, and fleet pricing for multiple orders is also available.
