The American Moving and Storage Assn. (AMSA), which represents household goods carriers, is the latest group to join a new nationwide program designed to teach motorists and truck drivers how to drive safely around each other.

The "Share the Road Safely Coalition," organized by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, consists of federal, state and local governments, private motor carriers, insurance companies, law enforcement agencies and highway safety organizations that are working together to improve driver behavior, AMSA said.

The group said its moving company members would support the education effort in part by distributing literature to nearly one-million families they provide service to each year.
