C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. said that its second-quarter gross profit increased 11.9% to $136.0 million compared to the same period last year.

Income from operations increased 12.6% to $46.2 million, and net income increased 14.9% to $29.0 million.

"Our core truck business continued to turn in solid results, and our other modes again made significant contributions this quarter," said CEO John P. Wiehoff.

Wiehoff said the company's 10% increase in its truck transportation business was driven by volume growth in both truckload and less-than-truckload transactions and an increase in profit per transaction in its truckload business.

For the six months ended June 30, 2003, gross profit increased 14.4% to $269.1 million. Income from operations increased 19.8% to $89.6 million and net income increased 21.1% to $55.8 million.
