Engine maker Cummins Inc. added capabilities to its PowerSpec Internet application that allows truck owners and fleet managers to read and clear fault codes, collect trip information and provide gearing recommendations.
Cummins said most of PowerSpec's upgrades were made to the Engine Access Tool, which now allows a user to read and reset fault codes. It also calls in a diagnosis to a service technician, verifies the repair and sends the vehicle off with a clean bill of health.
The new Vehicle Gearing component to PowerSpec helps determine the recommended gearing appropriate for an engine and driving patterns, and to note if current vehicle gearing specs do not meet Cummins recommendations.
The company noted that PowerSpec works on any Cummins Interact System (IS) engine and the Signature 600.
