Vistar Datacom said today that it is supplying GlobalWave MT2000 satellite data communication terminals for use by the U.S. Dept. of Defense in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

The GlobalWave system permits two-way, satellite-based data communications in real time to track and manage various fixed and mobile assets, such as trucks, trailers, oil and gas pipeline and wellhead facilities, chemical storage tanks, and intermodal containers.

The U.S. Army and Air Force are using the initial 165 GlobalWave units for tracking supply convoys or containers being shipped from Germany to Afghanistan on rail cars. Additional units may be ordered in the near future depending upon the supply requirements of Operation Enduring Freedom.
