Wholesale distributor H.T. Hackney Co. plans to install Qualcomm’s FleetAdvisor satellite communication and tracking system to automate driver logs, track state mileage for fuel tax reporting, and help it comply with the new hours of service (HOS) regulations that go into effect next year.
Hackney manages a fleet of over 500 units serving 33 locations in the U.S., mostly for short haul, multiple stop deliveries to food convenience stores, drug stores, supermarkets and restaurants.
“FleetAdvisor … will provide us with electronic DOT log keeping and state mile crossing data for HOS compliance,” said Hackey’s VP and COO Dean Ballinger. “We also expect to see additional benefits from productivity gains as we roll out the system.”
