Transportation management company Logistics.com Inc. has made a deal with SSI Technologies Inc. to connect SSI’s Acu-trac fuel level sensor for the heavy truck industry with Logistics.com’s OptiYield Fuel & Route optimization technology, creating an end-to-end automated fuel and routing optimization service.

The companies said the service will bring real-time fuel stop and optimized routing information right into a truck’s cab, allowing drivers to purchase fuel at the lowest prices from the closest and most convenient stops. Drivers view the information on the truck’s existing communications and tracking system, avoiding the need for an in-cab Internet connection.

SSI’s Acu-trac is a fuel-level sensor that uses ultrasonic sound wave technology to provide real-time fuel status information remotely via the truck's existing satellite or cellular-based communications and tracking system. Easy connection to Logistics.com’s routing system, combined with monthly subscription-based delivery, will also make the overall product accessible and cost-effective for individual owner-operators and small trucking companies, the companies said.

“With diesel fuel prices at an all-time high, trucking companies want to eliminate out-of-route miles and buy fuel at the lowest prices,” said Ben Morehead, director of business development for Logistics.com. “This provides trucking companies of all sizes with the most accurate, affordable way to minimize fuel costs while also increasing driver satisfaction.”
