The NATSO Foundation, the nonprofit research, education and public outreach organization of the truckstop and travel plaza industry, has donated $138,437.51 to the American Red Cross. In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, the NATSO Foundation pledged $1,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund through its own disaster relief program, and announced it would act as a clearinghouse for donations to that fund on behalf of the travel plaza and truckstop industry.

NATSO said many of its member travel plaza and truckstops matched customer and employee donations. TravelCenters of America, Petro Stopping Centers and Iowa 80 Group contributed $63,308, $35,329 and $22,004 respectively.

Sixteen industry businesses made significant donations to help the disaster relief fund grow to over $138,000: Arrowhead Shell Oasis, Broadway Truck Stops, Crossroads Truck Center, Davy Crockett Travel Center, Edinburg Auto/Truck Stop, Grand Island West TA, High Point Truck and Travel Plaza, Howes Lubricator, Iowa 80 Group, Johnson's Corner, Noble Truck Stop, Shoemaker's Truck Station, Tewel Corporation, TravelCenters of America, Truck N' Travel TA, and Truckstop and Travel Plaza Insurance.
