Online load matching service provider National Transportation Exchange (NTE) has launched a private community and other electronic transportation applications to help Direct Logistics Inc., a third-party logistics firm based in Carrolton, TX, capture a larger share of the $50-billion spent each year on direct mail.

NTE said this new "private community" manages online the collection, pricing and quotation, rules-based execution and visibility of shipments for Direct Logistics, which helps bulk mailers take advantage of U.S. Postal Service discount incentives.

Downers Grove, IL-based NTE said its online marketplace is host to collective freight transportation expenditures that exceed $250 million a year. NTE said such "online communities" enable improved vendor management, order and shipment consolidation, rate management, carrier selection and tendering, visibility and reporting, and financial settlement.
