The long-running labor battle between LTL carrier Overnite Transportation Co., a trucking subsidiary of rail giant Union Pacific Corp., and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters continues to be ugly.
Last week, National Labor Relations Board judge Robert Pulcini found that Overnite engaged in soliciting and bribing of employees to circulate de-certification petitions – essentially intended to remove the Teamsters from labor representation.
The Teamsters claim to represent some 3,500 Overnite workers at 37 company terminals, though Overnite counterclaims that the Teamsters actually represent only 2,000 of its workers at just 22 terminals.
