SmarTire said the two companies will sell its new line of tire monitoring aftermarket products for passenger cars and light trucks in the United States and Canada.

SmarTire technology provides drivers with improved vehicle safety, fuel economy, handling and performance. The new products offer a tire monitoring solution for existing vehicles that acts as an early warning device alerting the driver of small leaks or variances in tire pressure and temperature.

SmarTire added that, with the new Transportation Recall Enhancement Accountability and Documentation (TREAD) Act, improved tire safety standards will likely become a legislated reality and will require tire pressure warning systems on all new passenger cars and light trucks produced in the U.S. after 2003.
