The International Brotherhood of Teamsters continued to add to its labor victories this year with wins for member drivers at Miller Brewing and Conoco-Phillips.

Teamster members at Miller Brewing's Eden, NC, facility ratified a new three-year contract by a vote of 327-41 that increases pension payments by 19.4%, boosts wages $1.50 an hour over the life of the contract, and forbids any employee contributions for healthcare expenses.

The Teamsters said they will try to negotiate similar benefits at Miller's other breweries in Ft. Worth and Los Angeles.

In California, Teamster locals 287 and 315 successfully re-opened and negotiated the health and welfare portion of a contract covering 65 Teamster tank haul drivers at oil refiner Conoco-Phillips. As a result, the workers will pay less for certain medical benefits starting March 1.
