In response to the terrorist attacks against the United States, International Brotherhood of Teamsters general president James P. Hoffa and general secretary-treasurer C. Thomas Keegel are urging the union’s members to do what they can in their communities to assist the victims of the tragic acts.
The Teamsters are calling on its members to donate blood, contact local relief agencies or contribute to the Teamsters Disaster Relief Fund to provide assistance.
Though further details of injuries or fatalities are unconfirmed at this time, Hoffa said a large number of Teamsters work in and around the World Trade Center.
“In the face of any national crisis, Teamsters have always rallied to help those in need,” Hoffa said. “It is the hallmark of our union that we come together in the face of adversity and tragedy. Today is such a day in our nation's history.”
