Financial services firm UBS Warburg predicts that the government agencies, consumers, fleet operators and individual users’ need for fast and accurate real-time traffic data, will create a $7 billion traffic information market in the next few years.

In a recent study called “United States Traffic Data Market,” UBS Warburg said that fleets alone will drive the demand for high-level telematics, especially navigation systems, in the near future.

The company said that over the next four to five years, it expects companies to emerge that will provide full nationwide traffic packages. Enterprise and telematics users of traffic info will demand both incident data and speed data, and its believes there will be several providers for both, the company said.
