The carrier's earnings decreased to a net loss of $1,148,303 for the quarter, compared to net income of $73,853 for the same quarter of 2002.

Chairman & CEO Robert M. Powell said the company contines to experience "ups and downs" as it executes its long-term recovery plan.

Powell said first-quarter results were adversely affected by harsh late winter weather throughout the U.S., record high fuel prices and unfavorable insurance claims activity, which had the single most significant impact.
