Forward Air third quarter 2004 earnings

Greenville, TN-based specialized truckload carrier Forward Air Corp. said net income for the third quarter of 2004 increased 42.9% to $9 million on 8.8% higher revenues of $71.9 million compared to the same quarter in 2003 on strong demand from its primary market, the air cargo industry.

For the first nine months of 2004, Forward Air said net income increased 34.3% to $24.3 million on 16.1% higher revenues of $204.6 million compared to the same period in 2003.

The carrier added that it achieved an operating margin of 19.2% in the third quarter, which made it the best third quarter in Forward Air’s history.
