Internet-based freight transportation management firm Freightquote.com has completed its acquisition of Rockwell Transportation Services, a transportation brokerage provider specializing in truckload, LTL and intermodal services.
“A primary component of our acquisition strategy is to add companies that will enable us to broaden and improve our existing service offerings,” said Tim Barton, chairman & CEO of Lenexa, KS-based Freightquote.com. “Rockwell brings us significant value including complementary geographic strength, vertical customer segment knowledge and new carrier relations.”
Barton added that Perkasie, PA-based Rockwell will operate as an independent company and brand name, following a similar strategy Freightquote used when it acquired Minneapolis-based brokerage firm Twin Modal back in 2005.
“Each brand has effectively served a specific customer segment,” he said. “So we will continue to invest in these individual brands. Synergies will come in the form of sharing technology and administrative capabilities between the various brands, while the customer experience for each brand remains intact.”
