Portions of I-80 in California have been reopened after sustaining damages after mudslides occurred due to rainstorms that began on Dec. 19. After the storms finally abated, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday declared a state of emergency in seven counties.

In Truckee, CA, I-80 was reopened after CalTrans workers cleared debris caused by mudslides that obstructed both lanes on Saturday. The California DOT said there are still scheduled I-80 closures in the San Francisco Bay area to repair damage. The closures begin at the junction of U.S. 101 to Fremont St. in San Francisco from 1 am to 6 am each day through Jan. 6.
