Pomona, CA, has placed an order for 22 Mack TerraPro low-entry vehicles powered by compressed natural gas. The refuse vehicles will replace the city’s entire diesel fleet, said Mack Trucks. Delivery is expected in September.
“The city of Pomona is committed to reducing its environmental footprint,” said Howard Morris, Pomona solid waste manager. “We liked what Mack had to offer, especially its excellent reputation and the durability and reliability of its products.”
The TerraPro models will be delivered by TEC Equipment, La Mirada, CA.
“Refuse is an ideal application for natural gas because these trucks return home each day for refueling,” said James Waterbury, Mack Pacific district sales manager. “The natural gas-powered Mack TerraPro refuse vehicles offer an alternative domestically sourced fuel in a durable truck – a win-win for customers and the country when it comes to reducing dependence on foreign oil.”
Pomona ordered 20 side loaders and two rear loaders. The trucks are powered by Cummins Westport ISL G natural gas engines.
