FYDA Energy Solutions awarded grant to work on natural gas conversion systems

Jan. 3, 2014

FYDA Energy Solutions has been awarded a grant to continue development work on techniques to convert existing gasoline and diesel trucks to run on compressed natural gas (CNG).

The Alternative Fuel Incentive Grant (AFIG) is worth $375,000.

“We are very appreciative of the help, and grateful for the recognition from local elected officials,” said Tim Hooker, FYDA Energy Solutions director of business development. “This grant will help drive new research that will result in lower fuel costs and cleaner air for everyone in Pennsylvania. We’re really proud of what we have accomplished.”

FYDA Energy’s focus has been on developing ways to convert a wide variety of existing engines to switch seamlessly from liquid fuels to alternative fuels, such as CNG or LPG. The grant is aimed towards the creation of retrofit kits for gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines, the company said. The grants are awarded through the State of Pennsylvania’s Dept. of Environmental Protection under Act 13.
