New York City makes grant funding available for clean tech vehicles
Private and non-profit fleets operating in the five boroughs of New York City can now apply for funding under the New York City Alternative Fuel Vehicle – Voucher Incentive Fund (NYCAFV-VIF), the second funding program in the New York Truck – Voucher Incentive Program (NYT-VIP). The New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) has worked in partnership with the New York City Dept. of Transportation (NYCDOT), the New York State Dept. of Transportation (NYDOT) and CALSTART to launch this second round of funding.
Up to $6 million in total incentives for Class 3-8 all-electric, hybrid-electric and compressed natural gas vehicles is available in the program.
The NYT-VIP Voucher Processing Center (VPC) is now accepting vehicle eligibility applications from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) that manufacture Class 3 to Class 8 Hybrid Electric and CNG Vehicles, and CNG Engine Retrofits. Once the VPC has developed a list of approved alternative fuel vehicles and vendors through NYCAFV-VIF, New York City private fleets can submit a voucher request through an approved vendor for an incentive up to $40,000 per truck.
All program applicants must adhere to the rules and requirements of the NYCAFV-VIF Implementation Manual.
A fact sheet on the program is available here.
As the program is first-come, first-served, OEMs are encouraged to submit a vehicle eligibility application as soon as possible. It can be downloaded from here.
