Safest fleets honored by NPTC/Bridgestone Bandag

CINCINNATI. Companies that experienced the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles for the past year were honored here Tuesday at the National Private Truck Council Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition along with fleets that have made “outstanding and/or improved safety records based on their crash rates.” 

American Proteins, Inc. earned first place in the NPTC/Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions 2013 Fleet of the Year Awards for the lowest ratio of accidents per million miles in the local operations category, while The Gates Corporation took first place in the regional operations category followed by Energy Solutions/Hittman Transport Services, Inc. in second place and CTS/Sherwin Williams in third.

In the small fleets category (less than 50 vehicles), Sugar Foods Corporation took first place; Metal Exchange Corporation garnered second place; and Unifi Manufacturing third.

NEP Broadcasting earned the top spot in the large fleet category; Targa Transport, LLC took second place and Baxter Healthcare received the third place honor.

Fleets recognized with NPTC/Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions Fleet Safety Awards for their improvements in safety are divided into three groups: those receiving the Gold Seal Award for an outstanding safety performance; those earning a Silver Seal Award for reducing the company’s accident frequency by 40% or more compared to its record of the previous year, and those getting a Bronze Seal Award for making progress in reducing accident frequency by 20% to 39% as compared to the previous year.

Nine fleets were presented with Gold Seal Awards at this year’s ceremony: ADM Trucking, Inc.; Cooper Tire and Rubber Company; CVS Transportation, LLC; Energy Solutions/Hittman Transport Services, Inc.; Frito-Lay, Inc.; Linde, LLC; Orgill Transportation Company, LLC; Targa Transport, LLC; and The Gates Corporation.

Twelve fleets earned Silver Seal Awards this year, including: ADM Trucking, Inc.; American Proteins, Inc.; Frito-Lay, Inc.; GNC Transportation, LLC; Kraft Foods Group, Inc.; Moen, Inc.; NEP Broadcasting; North American Pipe Corporation; Orgill Transportation Company, LLC; Shaw Transport, Inc.; Sugar Foods Corporation; and Targa Transport, LLC.

Another nine companies were awarded NPTC/Bridgestone Bandag’s Fleet Safety awards in the Bronze Seal category, including: ADM Trucking, Inc.; Batesville Logistics, Inc.; Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC; Frito-Lay, Inc.; Golub Corporation/Price Chopper Supermarkets; Kraft Foods Group, Inc.; Orgill Transportation Company, LLC; PV Transport, Inc.; and Upstate Niagara Cooperative.
