Washington State Patrol detectives are seeking witnesses to a three-vehicle collision early Sunday morning, Nov. 4, 2012, that resulted in the death of a semi driver on southbound Interstate 5 near 336th St. in Federal Way, WA.
Just before 2:30 in the morning, a black Nissan Altima was traveling on southbound Interstate 5 just south of S 320th when the driver lost control and struck the guardrail on the west side of I-5. The Altima was then struck by a tan Toyota Camry, according to a State Patrol press release. The Altima was in lane two when it was struck by a tanker rig loaded with aviation fuel.
The semi truck, badly damaged in the collision, left the freeway to the west, traveled down the embankment and struck the sound wall, breaking the wall down and rolling over. The truck driver died in the accident.
The collision is under investigation and detectives are asking anyone who may have seen the collisions or observed the vehicles involved prior to the collision to contact Detective Russ Haake at (425) 401–7717.
