International Truck offers telematics credit

July 14, 2015

International Truck announced the industry's first telematics credit, available through approved, integrated telematics providers—effective immediately. The telematics hardware and a two-year data plan from one of several providers will be standard and available at no cost to the customer through this program, the company said.

Hardware and data from the other telematics service provider partners will be partially covered by this program. The credit bundle goes into effect on new orders placed since July 1, 2015, in the U.S. and Canada, and will be available to customers buying directly through the International Truck dealer organization.

"The commitment to invest in the telematics and remote diagnostics bundle represents our continued commitment to increase our customers' uptime and lower their operating costs—today," said Jeff Sass, Navistar senior vice president, North America Truck Sales and Marketing. "We feel it is our responsibility to make OnCommand Connection and remote diagnostics available to everyone, so we took the initiative to offer a technology bundle with a portfolio of telematics providers our customers already know and trust."

“The telematics bundle credit is an important part of International Truck's commitment to uptime,” the company said. “Remote diagnostics and vehicle management through the OnCommand Connection portal is a key factor in turning unscheduled downtime into planned, routine maintenance. In addition, OnCommand Connection enables the company's dealer network visibility into vehicle health in order to be proactive in facilitating maintenance and repairs.”

"This bundled approach removes the barriers to entry and gives non-telematics customers access to the power of OnCommand Connection," said Mike Cerilli, vice president and general manager, Navistar Connected Vehicle Business. "We have customers across the U.S. and Canada already experiencing the real-world benefits of OnCommand Connection and this bundle extends the offer to everyone."
