The data recorder information is compliant with National Fire Protection Association Standards, the company said. Among the information recorded by the data recorder/seat display option is lateral accelerations, anti-lock braking system events, safety belt positioning and vehicle speeds.
“The addition of the data recorder to our line-up of emergency vehicles provides local fire departments with a vital driver training tool,” said Jim Hebe, Navistar senior vp-North American sales operations. “As the only commercial chassis manufacturer to offer this critical option, we’re able to provide customers with key information on vehicle operation, driver behavior and equipment usage — important information that could help with new and enhanced training processes for fire departments across the country.”
The vehicles also include an optional accommodation package that includes all required sensors, wiring harnesses and in-dash connection to allow for the installation of alternative data.
