LAS VEGAS. TMW Systems announced at the American Trucking Assns. conference here that it has signed a multi-year agreement to license Navteq map data to bring new geographic visualization and routing tools to TMW customers.

Initial plans call for the integration of Navteq data into applications already running mileage and routing data programs. Current TMW customers will continue to be able to use multiple legacy mileage data sources to satisfy existing contractual obligations such as driver pay or customer billing calculations, the company said.

“We are excited to bring the benefits of this new relationship with Navteq to TMW customers of our transportation management systems and our mobile communications applications," said David Wangler, president & CEO of TMW Systems. “With access to world-class mapping capabilities and widely accepted, truck-specific routing data, TMW now has a digital platform on which to build a new class of software tools. These geographically-aware applications can energize personnel and fleet productivity with new business insight.”

The new integration will soon allow more efficient routing, OOR alerts, business analysis and fleet status displays. Integration of Navteq data into TMW’s D2Link hand-held mobile device is also under consideration.
