Wabco inks deal to supply Iveco with brake technology
May 17, 2012
Wabco Holdings has signed a long-term agreement with Iveco to supply anti-lock braking technology to the truck manufacturer for its platform of light- and medium-duty trucks in Brazil. The deal begins in 2013.
Brazil requires anti-lock braking (ABS) systems on new trucks, buses and trailers. The law requires 40% of all commercial vehicles sold in the country in 2013 to be supplied with the technology and 100% compliance in 2014, Wabco said.
“This major new contract with Iveco further demonstrates Wabco’s technology leadership in South America,” said Reynaldo Contreira, Wabc0 South America Business Leader. “We are passionate about the continued growth potential for Wabco anti-lock braking systems in South America.”
Wabco has been a supply to global manufacturer Iveco for many years and first pioneered ABS for commercial vehicles in 1981.
